Examples of Positive Action:

  • An employee may give special encouragement in advertisements to applicants from a minority religion
  • An employer may encourage people from particular religions or beliefs to undertake training for work in which, in the past, they have been under represented.

It is, however, important to note that selection for recruitment or promotion must be on merit, irrespective of religion or belief. The purpose of the positive action is to increase the pool of available candidates from those of particular religions or beliefs.
